RECYCLE OR DIE News Facts and current news about ewaste and recycling...
The total annual global volume of e-waste is expected to reach about 40 million metric tons. In the U.S. alone, it is estimated that we generated 1.5 billion pounds of all kinds of e-waste. This includes an estimated 44 million computers and televisions.
Of the 2.25 million tons of TVs, cell phones and computer products ready for end-of-life management, 18% (414,000 tons) was collected for recycling and 82% (1.84 million tons) was disposed of, primarily in landfills.
From 1999 through 2005, the recycling rate was relatively constant at about 15%. During these years, the amount of electronics recycled increased but the percentage did not because the amount of electronics sent for end of life management increased each year as well.
For 2006-2007, the recycling rate increased to 18%, possibly because several states have started mandatory collection and recycling programs for electronics.

the RECYCLE OR DIE Story Several years ago our President/Owner Dino De Marco and Kansas Operations Manager Joseph Lambert were discussing their dedication towards recycling. They felt that they needed a slogan that would not only capture that dedication and emotion but would ultimately create the foundation for the culture of the company. In doing so, “Recycle or Die” was born a counter-culture slogan off the mainstream that would intentionally draw attention both good and bad. It was meant to be a high impact in your face style which included a skull and cross bones design that helped convey the emotion and meaning behind it. The slogan was not intended to send the message that if you didn't recycle we would harm you in any way. But rather reflected the impact on the environment and damage being done to our planet and deterioration of precious resources needed to sustain life on our planet, the natural resources that we take for granted in our everyday lives. So when we say “Recycle or Die” it is meant that we need to recycle for our future, our children's future and future of generations to come. We also would hope that the customers and public we serve take into account the seriousness of this issue as well. Although the slogan is harsh it is also without a doubt true and we at Extreme Recycling believe that it is our duty to protect our planet for the future.
